Mental Health in Enfield
Mental health services in Enfield are provided by the Barnet, Enfield & Haringey Mental Health Trust. The community mental health teams aim to provide support to the public for adults. They offer services for people with the full range of psychological problems: these include sleeping problems, depression, phobic anxiety, stress and general anxiety, sexual problems, bereavement problems, panic attacks, medically unexplained symptoms and many other psychological conditions. However, they also cater for individuals with more serious mental health problems. They also deal with issues relating to cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s and dementia.
You can get more help if you go to Healthy Enfield or to NHS Choices. You can also go to your doctor for assistance. However, if you ask for psychological support, this will need to go on your medical record and there are long waiting lists. The therapy that you receive will either be Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), counselling or group therapy; the other alternative is being referred to see a psychiatrist. In an emergency you can ring 020 8702 3800 and a trained social worker will talk to you about your problems. Alternatively, you can ring the Samaritans. However, it is important to note that all the workers on these lines are volunteers with little or no training in psychology.
If you require immediate assistance, you can ring Enfield Psychotherapy and Hypnotherapy on 0207 467 8564. The services that they offer are excellent and often the waiting list is very short, and you can see a therapist within the week. This compares favourably to the waiting list on the NHS. These sessions are private, however, and they do cost £80 per hour. This is the reduced rate. In order to get the reduced rate, please quote th following reference – AROSA-80. Your therapist is David Kraft. He is a fully qualified, UKCP-accredited psychotherapist with specialist training in hypnotherapy.

Where can I get psychological support in Enfield?
Getting psychological support in north London
The NHS is at breaking point and, quite often, individuals with mental health issues go to their GP in order to psychological support only to be put on a long waiting list or given anti-depressant medication. In fact, depression is so common in this day and age – due to the stresses on modern-day life – that GPs don’t know what to do. And, people go to their GP with other psychological problems like stress, sleeping problems, phobic anxiety, panic attacks, ME, irritable bowel syndrome and the list goes on…
A practice in Enfield
David Kraft is an experienced psychotherapist based in Harley Street in the west end. David set up a practice in Enfield Town so that people who could not afford Harley Street prices could still see him for psychotherapy. David uses a combination of psychotherapy, counselling and hypnotherapy. What he found was a NHS system which was at breaking point. People were unable to get psychological intervention, and, even if they did, they were offered 6 sessions of CBT, and this was, in many cases, not the right therapy for them.
Getting there
David’s practice is just down the road from Enfield Town overground station. In fact the nearest stops are Southbury or Bush Hill Park. If you drive, you can park in Lincoln Road and the clinic is just off the Cambridge Road (the A10). Mondays to Fridays, from 8:30am to 6pm, there is a concierge on the door. There is also wheelchair access and a lift.
How to book?
Simply telephone 0207 467 8564 for an appointment. One used to have to go through one’s GP; however, nowadays, you can book a session directly. David also has a work mobile which is 07946 579645. Alternatively, you can e-mail David secretary at office@londonpsychotherapy.co.uk.

10 Year Anniversary for David Kraft
Today, I celebrate 10 years at No. 10 Harley Street. I started as a psychotherapist a bit before this, and set up in Harley Street on the 1st of September, 2018.
I am very proud to be there. My father worked at No. 80 from 1971 until he died in 2008. The whole family has fond memories of going there to visit Dad; we also knew the local area very well. It is just around the corner from the Royal Society of Medicine – where I am a fellow and member of council for the Hypnosis Section – and there is a range of shops and famous buildings all around.
As many people know, I have two practices – one in Harley Street and the other in Enfield. I enjoy working in Harley Street just as much as being at home. The secretaries and all the staff are efficient and lovely to work with, and I smile every time I go in.
I have treated a number of clients over the years and I have had had many successes. I am so pleased for them. It is so rewarding working with people and helping them move on in their lives. I have learnt to give and to understand other people – their motivations, passions and what makes them happy and sad. This is the key to psychotherapy – more than all the theories. My approach is integrative, independent and caring. And the essential ingredient is rapport.
Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way. Thank you to the fellows at the Royal Society of Medicine. I should also like to say thank you to my late father, my brother, mother and cousin. I should also like to say a big thank you to the following for their support and encouragement: Steven Tucker, Hong, Suki, Vanessa, Michelle B, Peter Moule, Jane Boissiere, Geoff Callow, the late Assen Alladin, Leon Gevertz, Les Brann, Peter Mellett, Jacky Owens, Mike Heap, Neil Austin, Grahame Smith, Paul Day, Paul Lynn, Howard Cowley and John Grover.
