Patients who expose themselves in public often do so to alarm and frighten the victims but rarely want to make any attempt to assault them sexually. These individuals often only seek treatment when they have come into contact with the law.
It is possible to successfully treat this disorder using hypnosis. The initial aim of the treatment is to remove the patient’s desire to expose him self in public by using aversion therapy. Once this has been achieved, the treatment can develop towards improving the patient’s sexual adjustment.
